Head-To-Head: Winter Series '09 - Event 5

And so it comes down to the final event, as it does every season. Three drivers have the chance to win the championship: Nolan Scott, Rudy van Buren and Niall McEvoy. Straight off the bat, we knew van Buren would not have a chance because he had a family emergency that forced him to miss the event. We wish him and his family the best. So, it was down to the Irishman, McEvoy, to take away the Tenesee-dweller's, Scott's, championship title. We returned to the home of Head-To-Head: Aston Cadet Reversed with the LX6. Full results can be found here. The racing was provided by Sonicrealms Racing's GTwerx.net server.

Niall McEvoy had to win the event in with Nolan being very slow in Round 1. Nolan Scott had to complete Round 2 if he was to win the championship. As it was, Niall was knocked out in Round 2 by Tim Beaudet (who has more than 600 laps at this combo) and Nolan won the event. It wasn't easy, however. Tim Beaudet was on a run of great driving and nearly managed to beat Nolan in their semi final, but it wasn't to be. Instead, we would see a repeat of the final event in Head-To-Head: Racing Series 1, with Eduardo de Souza and Nolan Scott battling it out. As with the first time these two met, it was Nolan Scott who came out victorious. He won the event and the championship, and becomes the first double champion in Head-To-Head history, having won 2008's summer series as well as this Winter Series.

Congratulations to all the racers who took part in this fabulous season of racing. But it's not over yet... Head-To-Head: Winter Series '09 - The All-Stars is coming mid-March. It will be a special event, featuring several different combos with all of the best drivers of the season battling out to be the best of the best. See you then!

Head-To-Head: Winter Series '09 - Event 4

This event promised to be the toughest of the season so far. The drivers would have to get to grips with the tricky and quick Formula V8 single seater and drive it around the tight, narrow and twisty South City Classic circuit. Full results can be found here. The racing was provided by Sonicrealms Racing's GTwerx.net server.

In qualifying, David Williams was able to secure the top spot. He, however, wouldn't make it to the finals of the event. David Williams was knocked out in dramatic fashion in Round 1, by Michael Passingham. Michael was extremely defensive and David Williams simply couldn't find a way round in a very close fought battle. The finals would be run between Andris Pavars and Nolan Scott. The fact that Andris was able to make it to the final is an extremely impressive one, since the Latvian only uses a keyboard to control his LFS cars. He only qualified 11th, but managed to make it right to the end.

He would be beaten fair and square by Nolan Scott in all four finals races, but Andris proved himself as a very skillful driver in the event and will greatly improve his championship position because of it. Nolan Scott leaves the event as championship leader, but only after an extremely controversial collision with his championship rival, Rudy van Buren. In the last semi-final, Nolan Scott braked too late from behind Rudy and piled into the back of him upon entry to the 'dreamkiller' corner. Rudy managed to save a big slide resulting from this contact, but Nolan Scott managed to scrape through and beat Rudy with a pass-to-win. The incident would be hotly debated, but in the end no penalty would result from the incident. Nolan Scott now has a commanding lead, but he, Rudy and Niall McEvoy have a chance to win the championship in the final round.

Head-To-Head: Winter Series '09 - Event 2

This event was held at Aston Club Reversed with the Raceabout. Recently voted as the LFS community's least favourite car, there were a lot of nervous faces before the event began. Full results found here. The racing was provided by Sonicrealms Racing's GTwerx.net server.

Everybody was expecting David Williams to walk away with the victory at
this event, but a mistake in qualifying meant he didn't even set a time
and was placed dead-last in the overall event results. 24 drivers were
at the event, and Rudy van Buren was at the top of that list in
qualifying. He managed to set a time nearly half a second faster than
Niall McEvoy; 3id's only hope after David Williams had been eliminated. The championship leader, Nolan Scott, managed the third fastest time.

The first semi final involved a repeat of the Event 1 final: It was van Buren vs Scott. In a superb battle, Rudy was able to beat Nolan in the first race by just 0.37s. In the second of their races, they set exactly the same time in the closest finish so far this season. Nolan was knocked out and it was over to Rudy to beat 3id's Niall McEvoy.

Rudy drove a perfect set of four races, managing to beat Niall in every race and securing the event victory, as well as the fastest lap of the event. This performance put Rudy into the lead of the championship, and it is clear that Nolan and Rudy will be the championship protagonists this season. Can anyone else get in on the battle? Find out during Event 3 where we'll be racing the UF1000 at Fern Bay Club Reversed.

Head-to-Head: Winter Series '09 - Event 1

In what has been one of the most thrilling Head-to-Head events ever, the United States' Nolan "BigTime" Scott takes victory. His victory was not an easy one, however.

The event was run courtesy of Sonicrealms Racing, on their GTWerx.net server.

The Formula BMW was driven at South City Chicane for this event.

.

Against Rudy van Buren in the finals, Nolan had a 0.15s deficit which
meant he had to pull out something exceptional in the final race of the
finals. As it was, he did not pull out a very big lead. Rudy van Buren,
who looked a little impatient, made a last-ditch attempt to pass at the
final corner; "The Dreamkiller". The pass was very unsuccessful, with
Rudy collecting Nolan and sending himself into a spin from which he
would not recover. In the end, Nolan would accelerate away and win the
race and the event by nearly 7 seconds. It was a fabulous event, with
only a couple of bugs preventing people from qualifying marring a great
first event. The official results can be found here.

Hello racers, just a reminder that on Saturday Jan 3rd we will be holding a test event in order for us to test the new and updated H2H system. The system has some updates that you will be able to see. It also has a number of background updates to help with server crashes (not having to restart the event) and rare occurences (both drivers not finishing or having a tie after 2 races) among other things that generally make the event run smoother than ever!

If you are free at 1900UTC on Saturday, feel free to sign up.
